5 years (1994-1999) as a full time translator with fishing companies in Kamchatka, Russian Far East.
1999 - present: engineer instructor in Azov-Black Sea Representation of JSC "VOLGOTANKER Shipping Company", Rostov-on-Don, Russia
Since February 1998 also working as a freelance technical translator through the Internet and in cooperation with local translation agencies.
Most significant projects
1995: EN-RU-EN translation of business plan, equipment documentation and various specifications for a mineral water bottling plant built in Kamchatka. On-site interpretation for service engineers. Equipment and technology was supplied by an Austrian company KOSME.
1995-1997: Participation in international Kamchatka Steelhead
* Project aimed at developing of local sports-fishing facilities. Translated various equipment specifications, legal documents. Interpreted negotiations with American partners (Seattle) and accompanied fishing instructors on site. *fish species relating to salmon, listed in Russia's RedbookApril 1996 - RU-EN translation of a set of incorporation documents for a fishing company in Petropavlovsk-Kamchatsky. Total volume – about 20000 words.
January-February 1997 - interpreted negotiations with HYUNDAI Mipo Dockyard (Korea) on shipbuilding and vessel conversion projects. At the same time translated specifications and all relevant documentation for three Russian fishing vessels undergoing repairs in Pusan, Korea.
July-September 1999 - translated technical specifications and other documents for repairs of two Ukrainian lighter carrying vessels in Malta (freelance RU-EN translation project for a Maltese agency, about 100 pages in all).
April-June 2000 - EN-RU translation of 40 scripts for video films on international tourism shown on satellite and cable TV in Europe. Total volume - about 50000 words.
July-August 2000 - EN-RU translation of chapters from ASTM Standard, specifications and technological requirements for production and welding of steel parts for vessels under pressure. End client – metallurgical works in Taganrog, Russia. Total volume - about 25000 words.
January 2001- present: Participation in an international project on translation of brochures and various documents, etc. relating to UN Convention on Biological Diversity.
